Jul. 6th, 2021 10:15 pm[Eun-ae has always taken after her mom more than her dad. She looks like her mom at this age, according to photos she's seen. Her mother had always had something of a silly sense of humor, whereas her dad feels like he never laughs. And she remembered her mother as a loving, gentle soul, while her dad just... isn't. He was distant even when her mom had been alive, and after the accident he'd just gotten worse.
Maybe it's not his fault. She's not the only one who lost a loved one to that car crash. But Eun-Ae can't shake the feeling that maybe he never really loved her mom as much as he said he did.
She didn't fault him for remarrying, of course. It had been a couple years, and she's sure her mom wouldn't want him to stay alone forever. If anything, that was one of the best things he'd done, because it had introduced her to Sasha, who she gets along with very well.
Very, very well.
It's more that he doesn't even seem faithful to Sasha, either. And his lack of love to his new partner, his infidelity... Eun-ae now realizes that he did a lot of these same things when he was with her mom, too. Maybe he'd been cheating on her, too. Maybe that's the reason she'd been out late that night. Who knows? It's in the past.
Eun-ae knows her mom would be proud of her for lots of things. She's grown into a beautiful teenage girl, her grades are good, she's going to go to a good college. But "sleeping with dad's new wife" probably isn't one of them.
She shifts her bookbag onto one shoulder, texting with one hand as she walks home from school tonight.]
sash what's for dinner?
[It's code, of course. They have a family plan, which means their texts can be read by her dad if he snoops, and they have to assume he will. Which means no record of what they get up to on phones or anywhere else that can't be tossed into a fire.]
